East Coast National Scenic Area

The first dawn of 2015 in Taiwan appeared at picturesque Sanxiantai, Taitung. An event titled “Exploration, Dawn On The Fingertips,” which brought together four elements: light, dancing, sound and music, was the main program promoted by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau (ECNSAA). People delivered messages toward and shared best wishes with friends and relatives by finger-touching a big light ball of 1.5 meter in diameter. Thanks to the ECNSAA’s elaboration, around 5,000 visitors surprisedly met and greeted the first gleams of the year 2015, which symbolized success and happiness.

On the New Year’s Day, events sponsored by the ECNSAA started with a dawn sale, which offered food samples of local delicacies of Chenggong and discounts. At 5 a.m., local groups, including Outlet Drift, Shrike, Office Lady and Amis Kakeng, took turns performing on the stage, greeting the audience with their soothing beautiful tribal voices. Then, welcoming the first dawn of 2015 highlighted the performance with Sa’aniwan chief’s praying for blessing. In the drizzle, people present welcomed the coming of a new year by hailing a happy new year to one another. In addition, two thousand dawn-titled postcards offered by the ECNSAA were joyfully asked for in trade of two Nov.-Dec. uniform invoices. The ECNSAA will mail the postcards for free, and the invoices collected will be given to Family Helper at Taitung. In the meanwhile, a task titled “Searching for Tourism Pros at East Coast” was going on at the scene. Anyone who downloaded Apps of “Action—East Coast” and completed greeting the dawn by checking into places got an i-poastcard, which was sent first time from Sansiantai to bless his/ her friends and relatives.

This program attracted visitors from around the island. Among them, dozens of scooter riders from Taoyuan arrived at 9p.m. on Dec. 31. Another six bikers who challenged riding around the island in the freezing cold also joined in. Even more people started at midnight jamming into the Sanxiantai after their countdown party to greet the first dawn of 2015 in Taiwan and make their new- year wishes.

After that, people eagerly walked on the eight-arch bridge to respond to another event titled “Triumphant And Wealthy Year of Goat,” also sponsored by the ECNSAA. They headed to the pavilion on the Sanxiantai islend, rang the bell of “Triumphant And Wealthy Year of Goat” and hung their wishing cards on the pavilion, praying for a happy and prosperous year.
