    History and culture
The Amis people called Jiqi Beach "Kaluluan" in the past. They took advantage of the landscape here to sun-dry salt, and collect them on the way home after hunting. In Guangxu 4th year of the Qing dynasty, after the Karewan Incident, the Amis people began to settle here and made a living by fishing. The Sakizaya people of Jiqi Village hold a sea ritual in March every year. In addition to offering sacrifices to the sea gods, the mountain gods are also addressed. The tribal priests and leaders guide the tribe in reciting prayers in their ethnic language to the mountain gods and sea gods, asking for their blessings for bountiful catches in the whole year.

The coastal plants in the tropical rain forest are mainly clusters of Macaranga and Japanese Mallotus. The plants on the rock are mostly Taiwan giantreed and Taiwan date palm. Close to the coast you would find screw pines, coast hibiscus, and Roxburgh sumac. In the bay, the most well-known are the lobsters, surgeonfish, smallscale blackfish, drummer fish, and rock porgy. The fish resources here are rich. Fishing boats will take tourists to the nearby waters at night in spring to watch flying fish jump out of the sea.

    Geological environment
The north and south sides of Jiqi Beach are hard volcanic breccias, but in between are the sand and shale of the Baliwan formation that is not resistant to erosion. Due to the differential erosion, sandy bays were formed, making it a great summer spot for water activities.

    Xinshe
From Jiqi Beach, after going through Xinji Tunnel, you will arrive at Xinshe. Xinshe Village is a settlement on the sea terrace. Most of the residents are Amis and Kavalan people. There is an eye-catching landmark in the north of Xinshe Village, Xinshebi. A gentle slope stretches from the top of the cape into the ocean. Villagers set up terraces on the top of the slope to grow rice. In spring, sprouting rice seedlings turn into a green blanket. In autumn, golden crops sway in the wind. It is a rare terrace landscape on the East Coast. In addition to the terrace landscape, the Kavalan banana silk weaving is a national treasure level craft. If you travel to Fengbin Township, visit the "Xinshe Banana Silk Workshop." Be sure to make an appointment before visiting. Xinshe Police Station established the "Bike Station" to provide services required by cyclists on the road. The police station also formed a rock fishing patrol team with local residents to ensure the safety of fishing enthusiasts by performing coast guard duties.

    Jiqi Elementary School
After the broadcast of TV series about Jiqi tribes "Play Ball," Jiqi Elementary School where the young baseball players on the show attended became popular overnight and became one of the most popular attractions on Provincial Highway 11 on the East Coast. Jiqi Elementary School was abolished a few years ago due to the decreasing number of students. It is currently adopted and maintained by the Kaluluan Sakizaya Culture and Education Promotion Association, and has become a community gathering place for local residents. The Sakizaya Tribe Harvest Festival is also held here.
Details

Jiqi Beach is a rare sandy beach on the East Coast. Stretching 3 kilometers, the sandy beaches are very approachable. Unlike other beaches, Jiqi is located at the junction of the mountains and the sea, like a soft cloud on the steep coastline. People surfing and enjoying water activities always bring Jiqi Beach laughter and vitality. Visitors can soak in the seawater under the blue sky of the East Coast, feel the embrace of the Pacific Ocean, and watch the footprints on the beach being washed over by the tide. Everyone can experience this charming natural beach in their own way.

The planning of Dashibi Mountain hiking trails is comprehensive. There are mileage indicators and pavilions along the way. Most of the stairs are wooden sleepers and stones. The stairs are not steep and comfortable to walk. If you go up the trail, you can see many plants planted by the indigenous people, such as pasture grass, tana, orange jusmine, and wild lilies.
