The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration (ECNSAA) of the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, is hosting the annual Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival for the third time. Artists from around the country and studios from the east coast were encouraged to participate in the Festival, themed “Mother Island” this year. A total of twenty-one artists and eleven studios submitted their work, of which four artists and seven studios were selected by judges for onsite residency and open studios.
This year’s Land Festival breaks the traditional approach of artists working inside studios by bringing their creativity onsite so that visitors can see the creative process of an art piece live. We welcome visitors to come and see the artists working from June 1
st to June 28
th. Also selected are seven open studios which will be open from June 1
st to August 31
st, showcasing a series of activities including: exhibitions, creation, hands-on experiences and promotional activities.
ECNSAA director Hung, Dong-Tau stated that this year’s call for onsite artists and open studios received enthusiastic applications with wonderful content, even attracting international applicants. The Festival is anticipating exciting pieces that will hopefully shape the unique culture, art and landscape of Taiwan’s east coast through the collaboration and synergy of these artists and studios.
The list of accepted applicants is available at the ECNSAA website (http://www.eastcoast-nsa.gov.tw/) and TEC Land Arts Festival website (
