Bravo! Green Island Taiwan’s Green Island International Diving Photography Contest is about to Open!

4094The East Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters of the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, is hosting Taiwan’s Green Island International Diving Photography Contest “Bravo! Green Island” in response to 2018’s Year of Bay Tourism and the Most Beautiful Bays in the World convention in Penghu. This international diving event will begin this year (2017) on September 30th, with registration online starting on August 31, 2017. The ECNSA Headquarters invites all avid underwater photographers to submit their work.
Between September 30, 2017 and August 31, 2018, participants can travel to Green Island and dive in the surrounding waters, photographing at spots such as Mushroom Head, Pole Reef, and Three Meter Reef. The contest’s two categories are wide angle and macro photography, each with first, second, and third place, 10 excellent selections, and 20 honorable mentions. Total prize money amounts to approximately 30,000 USD (900,000 NTD). The ECNSA Headquarters hopes that through this contest, more people will come to know the beauty of Green Island’s diving waters.
Dong-Tau Hung, director of ECNSA Headquarters explains that Green Island is the ultimate location in Taiwan to explore marine life. Not only is it on a par with other oceans worldwide, but Green Island is also a haven for diving enthusiasts throughout Taiwan and abroad. With favorable conditions all year round, 102 species of corals make a wide coverage, harboring 173 fish species. The area is full of vibrant coral reefs and a plethora of marine creatures, truly Green Island’s underwater treasure trove. International and local scuba divers will get to explore this exciting world, an underwater wonder.
Yorko Summer, this year’s Green Island marine tourism ambassador, will be on the contest’s jury along with well-known underwater photographers from all over the globe. A generous prize awaits scuba diving photographers around the world!
