East Coast National Scenic Area

Summer is coming, and tourists who are looking forward to going to the islands for vacation are also ready to depart with high anticipation. Green Island is blessed with beautiful beaches, famous diving sites, and world-class underwater hot springs. Its rich and diverse nature, wildlife, unique history, and culture attract a large number of tourists every year.

The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration of Tourism Bureau, MOTC (hereinafter the ECNSAA) is dedicated to developing island tourism while taking into consideration environmental protection and sustainability. In the summer of 2022, specifically from April to October, three new itineraries have been designed with the themes of sustainability and six key features of Green Island, aiming to promote Green Island as "the Paradise Island." It is hoped that visitors can learn about the nature, wildlife, and marine ecology of Green Island, while experiencing first-hand the traditions, gourmet food, slow living, and healing during their journey, making unforgettable memories.

• Island Trip 1 "Enjoy the ocean through night fishing"：With the guidance of local fishermen, visitors are taken to the sea to learn about the common fish around Green Island. Understanding how local seasonal seafood goes "from sea to table" is the first step to realizing the importance of sustainable seafood consumption.

• Island Trip 2"Picnic under the starry sky"：At the best star-gazing spot on Green Island, with the guidance of star-gazing experts, visitors will learn to identify constellations and how celestial bodies move in space. They can enjoy watching the starry sky and the Milky Way without light pollution, while tasting authentic local delicacies of Green Island, such as hot spring cooked food or rice pancakes.

• Island Trip 3"Ecological exploration of Green Island"：Follow the professional guide to explore the nature and wildlife of Green Island. Visit the jungle and learn about the endemic species, Eupyrgops waltonianus (weevil), and the common plants of Green Island, such as Ficus septica, Aglaia rimosa, and melastomes. Hike to the top of Amei Mountain, the second highest mountain of Green Island, to overlook the Pacific Ocean.

Lin Weiling, Director of ECNSAA, stated: "This summer, everyone is welcome to Green Island to enjoy the charming paradise island. The three new itineraries will incorporate the reduced use of disposable plastic and paper containers and utensils. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusable containers and utensils, take action to protect Green Island, cherish natural resources, and be friendly to the environment so that Green Island will continue to be the preferred location for island vacations.”
