The Must-See Moonlight Sea Concerts Every Summer

In the cool sea breeze on a summer night, people gather on the big lawn of Duli Visitor Center. There are all kinds of stalls under the colorful tents. Visitors from all around the world could be standing, sitting, or lying down on the lawn, enjoying a picnic in the most comfortable position or rocking with the music and performer on stage. Suddenly, everyone picks up their camera and looks towards the Pacific Ocean in amazement…
This is what happens at the annual East Coast Land Arts Festival – Moonlight Sea Concerts when everyone enjoys the grand scene of moonrise together. Gathering under the moonlight here has become a vow to the mountains and sea for the undying fans of the East Coast. Following along Provincial Highway 11 to visit the artworks from past years has also become a trendy art tour.

The Birth of East Coast Land Arts Festival

The beautiful landscape and diverse culture of the East Coast have always been loved by writers and cultured individuals. This land not only nourishes local talents, but also attracts artists with creative energy and free spirit. Artworks that are full of local characteristics, originality, modesty, or avant-garde modernity are therefore created here. The first East Coast Land Arts Festival was launched in 2016. In addition to recruiting local artists, international artists were also invited to the East Coast for resident creation. Local indigenous artists, indigenous cultural and creative industries, art studios, and craftsmen also participated in the "open studio" where they opened their doors to the public to speak about their creative philosophy and works with the visitors.

Open Studio and Workshops

Visiting those who are searching for art in their Hualien-Taitung life

There is a group of souls who yearn for nature, love freedom and creation, hiding in the inconspicuous Hualien and Taitung alleys, or in studios in secluded mountains, forest, and at seaside. They choose different forms of creation to pursue their ideal life. Some do pottery, some dye and weave; others use creative actions to fulfil their commitment to environmental sustainability.
"Open Studio" gathers these artists to share their glimmering light of hope in art so that the public can get to know this group of people who practice art and aesthetics in their lives.
